Our nation has zealous attitude towards the evaluation of its past. This is why it strives to collect the materials which are directly related to its life’s and culture’s past and entails both the freshest and oldest memories. The Armenian nation also tries to restore the well forgotten pages of its history and pass it on to the next generation, because it is the most important aspect of long-lasting and maintenance of the national type and ethnicity.

APRIL 2, 2009 WAS SCULPTOR KHOREN TER-HARUTYAN’S 100TH ANNIVERSARY
Artist Khoren Ter-Harutyan was born in 1909 in Western Armenian Ashotavan village which is situated in Kharberd state. In 1921 he settled in Wooster, state of Massachusetts, the USA. He studied both at the local high school and at Wooster’s Art Museum School of Fine Arts.
Khoren Ter-Harutyan has devoted him not only to sculpture making, but also worked in the fields of graphics and fine arts. There is a glimpse of defined topics which can be seen through the tissues of all of his compositions – family, maternity, crime, genocide, war.
In 1930 he flew to Jamaica and lived there for several years. The magnificent tropical picturesque had a great influence on the formation of Ter-Harutyan’s art.

MINISTRY OF CULTURE OF ARMENIA PRESENTS 2ND GERONTY TALALYAN NATIONAL CELLO FESTIVAL
During the press conference held at the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia the creative director of the festival Aram Talalyan and director Arman Padaryan resumed last year’s acquirements and presented the issues and expectations of the Second Republican Violoncello Music Festival.

PAGAN TEMPLE OF GARNI – “HORIZONS OF THE 21ST CENTURY”
Historical and cultural museum-reserve Garni is representing itself from a new angle and with a new charm. Today it is a fact that the whole territory of the museum-reserve is equipped with radio facilities. It is now fitted up with spectacular accent lighting to display the monument at night (with more than 16 million of shades) and an artistic hue lighting system. Historical and cultural museum-reserve Garni Temple is given a chance to represent itself to the public in a completely new way, to newly reestablish and highlight its unique place in the system of the cultural tourism.

BRAZILIAN “IMAGES” TRIO CONCERT IN ARMENIA
Within the framework of the Armenian-Brazilian cooperation the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia, the Ministry of Culture of Brazil, the Embassy of Brazil in the Republic of Armenia, Brazilian “Net” club represent “Images” trio to the Armenian society.
Today the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Armenia Hasmik Poghosyan received the Brazilian artists and awarded the “Images” trio with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia diploma. For a significant contribution to the development and dissemination of the Armenian modern musical art the Minister Poghosyan also awarded trio’s artistic director Enrique Miller with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia Gold Medal.

“ARMENIAN DUDUK MUSIC” WEBSITE PRESENTATION (WWW.ARMENIAN-DUDUK-MUSIC.COM)
The Armenian Duduk music was proclaimed a Masterpiece within UNESCO’s “Proclamation of Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity” project in 2005. The presentation of the Armenian duduk music website took place at the Armenian State Folk Art Museum on March 31, 2009 at 15:00 p.m.
Lyubava Moreva, the head of UNESCO Office in Moscow Cultural Projects arrived in Armenia to participate in the presentation of the website. “Armenian Duduk Music” website was presented by Vache Sarafyan, composer and the co-president of the Society for Safeguarding of Armenian Folk Music. The presentation was followed by a private program. Gevorg Dabaghyan, Gurgen Dabaghyan, Anna Mayilyan, Karine Hovhannisyan were among the guests of the event.

THE MINISTRY OF CULTURE OF THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA INFORMS…
During the night of March 30 – 31, 2009 18 paintings of 10 authors representing different epochs of the Armenian painting were stolen from the Armenian National Art Gallery’s Hrazdan’s Branch. Those authors are Hmayak Hakobyan, Suren Safaryan, Martiros Saryan, Panos Terlemezyan, Stepan Aghajanyan, Sedrak Arakelyan, Mariam Alamazyan, Gevorg Bashinjaghyan, Khachatur Yesayan.

“GOY” EXPERIMENTAL THEATRE 20TH ANNIVERSARY
“Goy” theatre was created in 1989 and is functioning as a professional-private theatre till now. Beginning from 1991 “Goy” is self-financed and is operating within the “Goyak” cultural company’s system.
On “Goy’s” 20th anniversary during the invited press conference the founder and artistic director of the theatre Armen Mazmanyan presented the history of “Goy’s” creative existence and its future plans.
By summing up the implemented work one can confidently record, “Goy” is a theatre with a unique and rich history with around 20 performances. It has a great experience in organizing large events and in participating in international festivals.

THE “ARTAVAZD” WINNERS RESULTS OF THE YEARLY AWARDS WERE RESUMED
The International Theatre’s day was commemorated by “Artavazd” awards. The winners of 13 nominations of were rewarded yesterday at “Moscow” movie theatre.
The president of the Union of Theatrical Artists of Armenia Hakob Ghazanchyan said that the “Artavazd” awards ceremony is an opportunity to evaluate the works implemented in the theatrical art during one year. This year’s award-giving ceremony is slightly different as when choosing the winners the committee gave the preference to the young theatrical artists. The president of the Union of Theatrical Artists of Armenia signified the fact of transferring the award-giving ceremony to the regions – Gyumri and Vanadzor State Theatres actively participated in the events mentioned above.

INDIAN CLASSICAL SONG AND DANCE ENSEMBLE’S PERFORMANCES IN ARMENIA FROM MARCH 14 – 22, 2009
Within the framework of the Armenia-India cultural cooperation Indian Classical Song and Dance Ensemble will perform in Armenia (Goris, Yeghegnadzor, Dalijan, and Yerevan) from March 14 – 22, 2009. Professor of the University of Deli, faculty of Music and Painting (singer) Garg Ouma, graduate of the University of Calcutta Rabintra Bharat, author of many books about the art of dance, Dr. Madhouri Manjoumdari will also be participating in the concerts. H.E. Ambassador of India Rena Pandi and the Indian delegation visited the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia. The Minister Hasmik Poghosyan greeted the members of the Indian delegation, expressed words of appreciation about the high level of the Armenian-Indian cultural cooperation, and thanked the Ambassador for complacent activities.

World-known conductor John Nelson is in Armenia for the second time to present Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis at the State Philharmonic Hall on March 13, 2009.
Famous American conductor John Nelson came to be popular with his unique interpretation of works that belong to the epoch of Romanticism, dedication to the arts of Haydn and Mozart, at the same time keeping in the centre of his attention baroque and the works of modern authors. Currently he is the creative director of Ensemble orchestral de Paris with which he performs in France and foreign countries (recordings were made by the EMI Company). Nelson headed the famous collectives of Europe and the USA – the New York Philharmonic, the symphonic orchestras of Los Angeles, Boston, Cleveland, Pittsburg, San Francisco, Oslo, Rotterdam, the Leipzig Gewandhaus, the Dresden Staatskappelle, Qeuln’s Gurzenich Orchestra, Rome’s Academia di Santa Cecilia, Orchestre de Paris, and other groups.

THE PERFORMANCE OF TBILISI SYMPHONIC ORCHESTRA IN ARMENIA WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE GEORGIAN CULTURAL SEASONS
The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia and the Ministry of Culture, Monument Protection and Sports of Georgia with the support of the Embassy of Georgia in the Republic of Armenia are organizing Georgian Culture Seasons in Armenia. Within the framework of this project Tbilisi Symphonic Orchestra (creative director and general conductor Vakhtang Kakhdze) performed a classical program on March 9, 2009 at Aram Khachatryan Concert Hall (in the program – Mozart, symphony N 36, Mozart, concert for piano and orchestra N 20, soloist – Tsonte Tsontilashvili, Vakhtang Kakhidze, with Georgian dialects – violin, vocal, for synthesizer and philharmonic orchestra, soloists – Georgi Khandrava, Vakhtang Kakhidze (vocal), Anna Kakhidze (vocal, synthesizer), Ravel, Suit N 2, from Daphne and Chloe ballet).

More than 300 well-known women of different spheres were at the festive ceremony.
Pieces of more than 10 authors were presented at the exhibition dedicated to the women’s holiday: Martiros Saryan, Hovsep Qushman, Vardges Soureniants, Armine Calents, Mkrtich Qamlyan, Minas Avetisyan, Vava Khachaturyan, Arpenik Nalbandyan, Alexander Bajbeuk-Meliqyan, Yeghishe Tadevosyan, Yervand Qochar, Paravon Mirzoyan.
