ARMEN DJIGARKHANYAN HEADED THE DRAMATIC THEATRE OF MOSCOW TO YEREVAN
Within the framework of “Season of Russian Culture” project in Armenia which was initiated by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia and the Agency of Culture and Cinematography of the Russian Federation under the high of sponsorship of the President of the Republic of Armenia Serge Sargsyan the Dramatic Theatre of Moscow headed by Armen Djigarkhanyan will be on tour in Yerevan from September 21 – 28, 2008.
The troupe’s performances are not only scheduled at the Yerevan Academic Theatre after G. Soundoukyan, but also at the Vanadzor Dramatic Theatre after H. Abelyan.

THIRD CONVENTION OF CIS COUNTRY SCIENTIFIC INTELLIGENTSIA
The CIS participant country’s Humanitarian Cooperation Council was created based on the 10th article of the “CIS participant country’s Humanitarian Cooperation” agreement signed on August 26, 2005. Vigen Sargsyan, assistant to the president of the Republic of Armenia will be representing Armenia in the Council. The contract about the creation of the Humanitarian Cooperation Interstate Foundation was signed on May 26, 2006 in Dushanbe. The founders of the foundation are the CIS participant countries.
The Board is the highest authority of the foundation. The Board members are the Ministers of the Ministries the activities of which are closely related to Humanitarian issues. By the decision of the prime-minister of the Republic of Armenia the Board representative of Armenia is Hasmik Poghosyan, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Armenia.

STEPAN ALADJADJYAN WAS AWARDED WITH A GOLD MEDAL OF THE MINISTRY OF CULTURE OF THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA
By the order of H. Poshosyan, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Armenia singed on September 19, 2008 Stepan Aladjadjyan, writer, publicist, and a public figure for the outstanding investment and merit in the Armenian literature and the Diaspora’s cultural life was awarded with a Gold Medal.
Stepan Aladjadjyan after a 16 year break has returned to Armenia. Here in his homeland became the secretary of the Armenian Union of Writers and the director of the Museum of Art and Literature after Y. Charents.
S. Aladjadjyan is the author of many novels and prosaic compositions, as well as is the scenarist of the “Ktor m’ erkinq” and “White Dreams” films.

“PROJECT OF RECOGNITION OF THE ARMENIAN MONUMENTS” PERIODIC EVENT AT THE “ZVARTNOTS” RESERVE-MUSEUM
“The Project of Recognition of the Armenian Monuments” implements homonymous public organization in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of the Armenian Republic and Icomos as well as with the professional counseling of public organization “Hayastan”.
The project announced its opening on June 8, 2008 from the Garni Temple’s complex. This followed the posting of multilingual info-announcements about the history of Gyumri on a few central streets.
The next monument chosen for the first round is “Zvartnots” historical architectural complex.

“HAMLET” OF THE MOSCOW ART THEATRE AFTER A. CHEKHOV ON YEREVAN STAGE
“Hamlet” of the Moscow Art Theatre after A. Chekhov on Yerevan Stage
The Dramatic Theatre of Moscow arrived in Yerevan Within the framework of “Season of Russian Culture” project in Armenia which was initiated by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia and the Agency of Culture and Cinematography of the Russian Federation from September 17 – 18, 2008. The Theatre within the scope of the international theatrical Shakespeare festival performed W. Shakespeare’s “Hamlet on the stage of the Yerevan Academic Theatre after G. Soundoukyan.
Famous Russian actors Mikhail Troukhin, Mikhail Porechenkov, Konstantin Khabenski, and others are involved in the producer Yuri Boutousov's staging of “Hamlet” with a completely new interpretation.

MEETING WITH THE AMBASSADOR OF ITALY TO THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA MASSIMO LAVECCO KASSINELLI AND UN’S PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE IN THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA CONSUELO VIDAL
H. Poghosyan, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Armenia received the Ambassador of Italy to the Republic of Armenia Massimo Lavecco Kassinelli and UN’s Permanent Representative in the Republic of Armenia Consuelo Vidal. The reconstruction project of Gymuri’s historical centre was discussed during the meeting.
The project presented by the Ministry of Culture of Armenia about the reconstruction and the expedient usage of historical-cultural monuments located on the territory of Gyumri’s historical centre was approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy, which has allocated 500 000 Euros to the UN’s Development Project.

THE SECOND CLASSICAL MUSIC FESTIVAL OF RETURN
Sergey Khachatryan, violin (Germany), Vladimir Khachatyran, conductor (Germany), Suren Amirkhanyan (Jordan), Irina Hovhannisyan, piano (Germany), Liana Alexanyan, soprano (Germany), Michael Balyan, piano (Germany), Vardan Mamikonyan, piano (France), Suren Bagratouni, violoncello (the USA), Steven Prutsman, piano (the USA), the Armenian State Philharmonic Orchestra (creative director and general conductor Aram Gharabekyan) performed on the different days of the festival. Within the framework of the festival concerts in Gyumri and Vanadzor are also expected.

PAST THE INTERNATIONAL BOOK EXHIBITION IN MOSCOW
International Book Exhibition-fair was held in Moscow from September 3 – 8, 2008. Around 2000 publishing houses and book-selling organizations from 82 countries of the world took part in the exhibition.
Published works of the past two years were presented on the Armenian pavilion; books published by both the state order and private publishing houses. Around 30 publishing houses presented encyclopedias, children’s, fiction, translation, and cultural literature published by them in general.

RUSSIAN WORD DAYS IN ARMENIA (YEREVAN, GYUMRI, VANADZOR, SPITAK, SHUSHI)
Russian Word Days which has already become a traditional project is being held in Yerevan, Gyumri, Vanadzor, Spitak and Shushi from September 9 – 15, 2008.
Russian Word Days in Armenia is dedicated to Valeri Bryusov’s 135 and Turkmencha’s agreement’s 180 anniversaries.
The organizer of the event is the Russian Company in friendship and cooperation with Armenia. The project was made possible with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia and in cooperation with the International Partnership of the Writers’ Unions, the Unions of Russian writers and journalists, the Unions of Armenian writers and journalists, the Armenian Company of cultural relations with the foreign countries, and “Armenian-Russia” company.

VISIT TO THE SAINT KARAPET CHURCH
On September 7, 2008 the participants of the European Heritage Days – 2008 visited medieval village Moshaghbyur which is located in Ararat region’s Lousashogh community. One km from this place Hovhan Saint Karapet Church is being maintained which was built in 1301 by princess Gontsa. The deputy-minister of Culture of the Republic of Armenia G. Gyurjyan, the responsible for the Holy Echmiadzin’s museum values Ter Asoghik priest Karapetyan, the assistant to the leader of Ararat’s diocese Father Mkhitar abegha Grigoryan, the rector of the Armenian Institute of Toursim R. Minasyan expressed their ideas about the monument, its historical revival and harnessing methods.

EUROPEAN HERITAGE DAYS – 2008 WAS STARTED WITH AN OPENING OF THE PHOTOGRAPHICAL EXHIBITION TITLED “EUROPE: JOINT HERITAGE”
As in many countries of the world in Armenia as well with its ancient national cultural roots religious heritage is the voluminous part of the cultural heritage; it is the direct expression and bearer of our beliefs, conscience and historical memory. It is a fact that many think of the expressions such as “monument” and “sightseeing” are usually associated with architectural worshiping obelisks; the religious heritage and sanctified places are inseparable from the Armenian landscape, places, rituals, and national holidays. The witnesses of the ancient world’s religious beliefs are the monuments and findings from the diggings made in historical places of Armenia; Erebuni (Temple Khaldi, Temple Sousi), Metsamor (sanctuaries), Armavir and Artashat cities, and indeed, the unique monument of pagan architecture Temple Garni dedicated to the God of Sun Mihr’s worship.

OTTO DIX’S EXHIBITION AT THE ARMENIAN NATIONAL ART GALLERY
Otto Dix was born in a molder’s family on December 2, 1891 in a place called Gera-Ountermhouse in Thuringia. Otto Dix’s extraordinary painting talent was discovered during his pre-school years. The talent was greatly encouraged by his family and relatives. Ernst Shounke becomes Dix’s teacher and greatly contributes to the painter’s talent by sponsoring and encouraging him. The former helps him to get a scholarship provided by Thuringia’s prince thanks to which Dix manages to acquire the painters’ specialty after studying four years in the city of Gera and then in 1909 he enters Dresden’s School of Applied Art.
